GIS - 03 August, 2018: Additional scholarships based on merit and social criteria have been allocated to 24 eligible students ranked among the first 500 of the Cambridge International Examination Scholarship Rank Orders following an invitation for applications issued in April 2018 inviting eligible candidates to enroll under the scheme.
Two categories of candidates are targeted under the scholarships scheme namely: candidates whose total parental income does not exceed, an aggregate of Rs 16,000 per month; and candidates whose total parental income does not exceed, an aggregate of Rs 9,500 per month.
With regard to the two scholarships, 16 candidates have been awarded scholarships in the category whose parental income does not exceed Rs 16 000 per month and 8 under the category whose parental income does not exceed Rs 9 500 per month. Among the candidates who benefitted from the scholarships two are from Rodrigues.
A Communiqué was issued on 27 April 2018 inviting applications for the award of 24 scholarships under the Additional Scholarship Schemes based on Merit and Social Criteria.
Subsequently, a selection exercise was carried out by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources, Tertiary Education and Scientific Research in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Security, National Solidarity & Reform Institutions in accordance with the provisions of the Education (Amendment) Regulations 2013 as amended to shortlist the eligible candidates.
