Attorney General has working session focusing on harmonisation of Human Rights Reporting

GIS - 31 July, 2018: The Attorney General, Minister of Justice, Human Rights and Institutional Reforms, Mr Maneesh Gobin, had a working session concerning the harmonisation of human rights reporting and Sustainable Development Goals reporting, with the UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Representative in Mauritius, Ms. Christine N. Umutoni as well as with the Head of the Resident Coordinator Office, Mrs Doorgawatee Ram-Gopal, on Friday 27 July 2018.
Mauritius, Ms. Umutoni highlighted, is known for its timely Human Rights reporting as well as the quality of the reporting by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights which can be showcased as a best practice.
She informed the Minister of the upcoming AfrAsia Bank Sustainability Summit, which is being organised with the support of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office for Mauritius, scheduled for 11 and 12 October 2018. Furthermore she briefed the Minister on the roadmap to roll out a United Nations and Government of Mauritius Strategic Partnership Framework.
Ms. Umutoni also elaborated on the series of events planned to mark the UN Day which will be celebrated on 24 October this year. A Strategic Prioritisation retreat bringing together the national stakeholders and the UN country team is scheduled for early September. The retreat will be facilitated by a team of experts of the UN Development Group.
