GIS– 06 December 2016: The Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) 2016 results have been made public yesterday by the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES). A total of 22 092 candidates were examined.
Out of the 17 099 school candidates examined for the first time, the pass percentage is 76.96%.
The number of candidates who repeated the CPE Examinations was 2 699 and the pass rate is 24.75%. A total of 2 294 private candidates took the exams and the pass rate stands at 17.48%. The pass rate for the 1 244 candidates from Zones d’Education Prioritaires (ZEP) schools is 44.4%.
A total of 1 640 pupils, that is, 684 boys and 956 girls, have obtained at least 4 A+.
A resit examination will be held on Tuesday 20 December 2016 for candidates who have passed in three subjects, including at least two core subjects (namely English, Mathematics or French) and require one subject to obtain an award of CPE.
It is recalled that 2016 marks the end of the Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) which will be replaced by the Primary School Achievement Certificate as from 2017.
