GIS – 17 November 2015: Civil Service College Mauritius (CSCM) launched its first courses today namely:  Customer Service excellence, and Leadership: Making a difference, for some 120 officers. The official launching ceremony was held yesterday in Forest Side, in the presence of the Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms, Mr Alain Wong.
In his address the Minister said that the CSCM is another major project of the Government and a landmark for the public service. He recalled that as per Government programme, the CSCM must have regional ambitions as well.
Government, he stated, wants Mauritius to become a high income economy as outlined in the Economic Mission Statement 2030. According to him, public officers have played an instrumental and important role in the development of Mauritius to bring it to the nation we know today, however nowadays the challenges are different.
Competitiveness and productivity are the name of the game, said Mr Wong, adding that there is  need for a transformed public sector with a new breed of public officers who are active drivers and passionate facilitators to help transform  these projects into  reality and to achieve the vision of the Government.
For the Minister, the CSCM is a very important factor in the process of change that Government aims to bring about. On that score, the CSCM must be a catalyst in this transformational process and assist public officers to become creative, effective leaders, passionate and engaged facilitators at all levels of the hierarchy, he said.
