GIS – 20 March 2013: The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), organised a consultative workshop yesterday at La Canelle, Domaine Les Pailles. The theme was “Setting up of a Framework for Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation in Industries in Mauritius”.
The official launching was made by Mrs. A. Burrenchobay, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection (Industry Division). The Resident Representative of the UNDP in Mauritius, Mr. S. Springett, and the National Project Director and Deputy Director, Technical Services of the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities, Dr. P.M.K. Soonarane, also addressed the assistance. The welcome address was made by Mr. R. Imrit, Director of Industry.
The first plenary session of the workshop concerned the presentation on a code of good practice in energy management, by Dr. Ewan Macdonald, Industrial Energy Efficiency Expert from the United Kingdom. The latter also chaired the second plenary session with a presentation of a guidebook for industrial energy audit, and the third one on an MS Excel-based Industrial Energy Audit Software tool.
