Drugs worth Rs 474,000 seized at the Parcel Post Office

GIS - 05 March, 2020: The Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS) of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) seized, yesterday, Rs 474,000 worth of drugs, namely 95 grams of cannabis resin and 12.6 grams of methamphetamine. The two packets were sent from the United Kingdom.
The packets, which had remained unclaimed at the Parcel Post Office, were tagged for scanning by the CANS officers and the scanning images showed concealments. The case was handed over to the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit for further investigation which revealed the presence of the drugs.
The MRA has set up a Stop Drug platform where members of the public can report suspected drug/illicit activities. They can also call on 8958 to report such cases.
