Esquel Group Chairman meets Prime Minister

GIS 23 August 2018: The Chairman of the Esquel Group, Mrs Marjorie Yang, called on the Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, yesterday afternoon at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
Discussions focused on the operations of the Esquel Group in Mauritius.  The company, a global textile and apparel manufacturer, has production facilities in China, Malaysia, Vietnam and Mauritius, amongst others.
In a statement, Mrs Yang underlined the necessity to enhance the competitiveness of the Mauritius factory on the global market.  It is imperative to integrate innovation, diversity and creativity for the company to grow, in particular, in the knowledge economy, she emphasised.
The Chairman also indicated that the company is currently undergoing a transformation phase with the aim to rejuvenate itself.  A team of young leaders has thus been conferred this responsibility by adopting new ways of managing and competing, she added.
