GIS - 19 December 2014:  A good quality of life depends upon good health, and Government has the will to see to it that the population lives longer and remains in good health.

This was the gist of the message of the Minister of Health and Quality of Life, Mr Anil Kumarsingh Gayan, at the annual Patients’ Day celebrations organised today by the Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital in Port Louis.

According to the Minister, it is important for the ministry and the hospitals’ staff to maintain a good relationship with a view to working together to ensure the better health of the nation.

While commending the personnel of the hospital for their dedication and hard work, the Minister pointed out that they have to ensure that each patient gets the best care possible and leaves the hospital satisfied. Mr Gayan also urged the staff to respond to patients’ demands with sympathy and in a spirit of compassion.

The Annual Patients’ Day aims at making the patients’ experience more positive by providing them the opportunity to celebrate the end of year festivities. Christmas presents are also distributed to children in the paediatric ward on that Day.
