GIS - October 25, 2012: The first edition of Infotech Rodrigues, aiming at creating more awareness on emerging technologies and bringing ICT closer to the Rodriguan citizens, will open on 3 November 2012 at the Regional Cultural Leisure Centre, Mont Plaisir.
The Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Mr Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum, and the Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues, Mr Serge Clair will be present.
Organised by the National Computer Board in collaboration with the Rodrigues Regional Assembly, the two-day event is expected to attract some 7,500 visitors. Entrance is free of charge.
It will bring together 11 exhibitors who will showcase their technology and ICT products and services at the 11 stands booked. Infotech Rodrigues will include the following components: ICT Exhibition and a gaming zone in the lobby of the Regional Cultural Leisure Centre.
It is recalled that 19th edition of Infotech Mauritius was held last month at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre in Pailles. Infotech aims at creating awareness on emerging technologies and providing business opportunities in the ICT sector. It also has as objectives to promote local talents, expertise and know-how in the ICT sector; and offer a meeting platform for local ICT operators to develop collaboration and deal with potential technology partners and clients.
