GIS – 27 January 2020: Mauritius will host, on 30 and 31 January 2020, an Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Experts’ Meeting which aims at enhancing intra-regional trade and investment.  The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn, Mon Trésor, in Plaine Magnien.

The event is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, and the IORA Secretariat.  It will bring together government and private sector representatives of IORA Member States and Dialogue Partners. About 30 participants from some 20 Member States and five Dialogue Partners are expected to participate. Local stakeholders from the public and private sector will also attend.

The meeting will examine barriers to trade and investment among IORA Member States and identify solutions to address these barriers. Public-private sector collaboration and new partnerships for trade and investment will moreover be discussed.

It is expected that the meeting will result in a more structured dialogue on trade and investment within the IORA and contribute towards the revitalisation of the IORA trade and investment cooperation agenda.
