GIS - 7 May 2015: Mauritius and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria will reinforce cooperation in areas of mutual interest and will put in place a legal framework to further strengthen collaboration between the two countries.
This was at the core of discussions during a courtesy call by the Ambassador-designate of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, with residence in Antananarivo, Mr Mokaddem Bafdal, on the Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, yesterday at the Treasury Building in Port Louis.
In his statement the Ambassador-designate of Algeria, Mr Mokaddem Bafdal, pointed out that both Algeria and Mauritius are in negotiations with regards to finalising a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement and an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement so as to facilitate trade and investment between the two countries.
Mr Mokaddem Bafdal, also expressed the interest of the Algerian authorities to collaborate with Mauritius in the fields of education, fisheries, trade and finance.
It will be recalled that the Ambassador-designate of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, with residence in Antananarivo, also presented on May 5, his credential letter to the President of the Republic, Mr Rajkeswur Purryag.
