GIS - 13 November, 2015: Mauritius and Vietnam will further collaborate and enhance partnership for the promotion of the Small and Medium Enterprises considered as the backbone of both economies.
This was at the fore of discussions during a courtesy call yesterday by the Ambassador-designate of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr Nguyen Van Trung, on the Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth at the Treasury Building in Port Louis.
Other issues of cooperation raised pertained to the promotion of trade and investment between the two countries and the blue/ocean economy.
In a statement, the Ambassador-designate of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr Nguyen Van Trung, evoked the various possibilities for both countries to collaborate and share experience and expertise with regards to the management of marine resources and developing sustainable fisheries as both countries are bounded by the sea. He further expressed interest to learn from the Mauritian experience in the development of the blue economy.
Mr Nguyen Van Trung, also appealed to Mauritian investors to further invest in Vietnam so as to increase the volume of trade between the two countries. According to him, both countries has a lot to derive in terms of trade and investment as Vietnam is connected to the Asian market through the ASEAN Free Trade Area while Mauritius can be used as gateway to Africa.
