National Assembly Elections 2014: Visit of a team of SADC Electoral Advisory Council

GIS- 24 November 2014:  A team of theSADC Electoral Advisory Council (SEAC) was in Mauritius from 19 to 22 November to undertake a Goodwill and Predeployment Assessment mission to assess the political situation in the country.
 
They had several meetings and working sessions with officers of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Electoral Commission Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional integration and International Trade, and the Attorney General’s Office.
The SEAC team also met the Commissioner of the Police, the Electoral Commissioner, representatives of Political parties and individuals, Civil Society Organisations, the Independent Broadcasting Authority and the Media.
During their meeting with representatives of the Independent Broadcasting Authority, the Guidelines for private and public broadcasters for the National Assembly elections of 2014 was also launched.
