GIS - 05 December, 2018: The next report of the Pay Research Bureau (PRB) is expected to be released around October 2020 and its recommendations will be effective as from 01 January 2021 and the frequency of publication of the PRB Report is proposed to be maintained to five years. The PRB has already embarked on the preparation of its next Report on the basis of this timeline.
This reply was given by the Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the National Assembly yesterday, to a Parliamentary Question with regard to preponing the publication of the next PRB Report to September/October 2019, for implementation as from 01 January 2020.
He highlighted that since the release of its first Report in 1982, the PRB has continuously undertaken a general review exercise of pay and grading structures in the public sector at an interval of five years, except for the 2016 Report, which was the first one to be published after a period of three years only.
However, Prime Minister Jugnauth underlined, the 2016 Report re-established the periodicity of the general review exercise to five years, which was accepted by all public sector employees.
