PM holds working session following recent heavy rainfall

GIS– 05 January, 2018: The Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, had a working session today, in the presence of the Minister of Social Security, National Solidarity, and Environment and Sustainable Development, Mr Etienne Sinatambou, with the representatives of the Police Department, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Centre, the Mauritius Meteorological Services and the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service, to take stock of the situation islandwide following the recent heavy rainfall.
All stakeholders concerned have been requested to monitor the situation closely and to take all necessary remedial measures in case heavy rainfall/localised heavy rainfall would persist and cause hazards such as flash floods, landslides, overflow of rivers, water accumulation in flood-prone areas and on highways, amongst others.
