GIS – 13 December, 2017: The Primary School Achievement Certificate (PSAC) 2017 results - with a pass percentage of 77.70% - were made public yesterday by the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES). A total of 20 421 candidates were examined.
Out of the 15 994 school candidates examined for the first time in the Republic of Mauritius, 12 427 have met the PSAC requirements to be admitted in Grade 7. For Rodrigues Island, 795 pupils sat for the PSAC and out of which 613 candidates have attained the PSAC requirements. The pass rate for Rodrigues is 77.11%.
As for Zones d’Education Prioritaires (ZEP) schools, the pass rate for the 1 085 candidates (Mauritius and Rodrigues) examined is 47.83%, representing a total of 519 pupils to have attained the PSAC requirements.
Moreover, out of 1 150 candidates, that is, 1 080 Mauritians and 70 Rodriguans will have the possibility to be reassessed in one subject on Thursday 21 December 2017. A remedial programme is being held as from 13 December 2017 for such candidates opting for reassessment. Results will be made public on Friday 29 December 2017.
This year all pupils are eligible to enter Grade 7. 12 830 have been admitted in Grade 7, while 3 914 have been admitted in the extended stream for the same Grade.
The registration exercise for secondary schools is scheduled for Tuesday 19 December 2017.
