VPM Jeewa-Daureeawoo hands over Leadership Development Certificates to Women Entrepreneurs

GIS 23 November 2018: Certificates were awarded, yesterday, to 44 women entrepreneurs registered with the National Women Entrepreneur Council (NWEC), who have followed the Leadership Development Training Programme during a ceremony held at the National Women Development Centre, Phoenix.
The Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Local Government and Outer Islands, Minister of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare, Mrs Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo, the Chief Executive Officer of Lottotech Ltd, Mrs Michelle Carincci, the Chairperson of Women in Networking, Mrs Anuradha Nunkoo, and the Chairperson of the NWEC, Mrs Sandra Mayotte, and other personalities were present.
In her keynote address, Mrs Jeewa-Daureeawoo congratulated the participants for their commitment and determination to complete the programme. The training, she highlighted, aimed at encouraging women entrepreneurship by promoting the entrepreneurial skills and raising standards of women entrepreneurs as regards business intelligence.
The Vice Prime Minister pointed out that the training will give basic leadership tools to women from different backgrounds to aspire to higher positions in their fields of expertise, be it as entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs or those who aspire to become leaders. She encouraged the empowerment of those who are already active in their own locality or community by giving them the appropriate tools and the necessary self-confidence to bring positive change in their life and in their local community.
She also seized the opportunity to encourage the participants to become role models for other women by sharing their knowledge and using the information and tools they have gained during the course so as to aspire other young women in Mauritius to become leaders of tomorrow.
The Leadership Development Training Programme was conducted, once a week, over a period of 10 weeks from June to September 2018 by Women in Networking Limited (WIN), with the support of the NWEC and Lottotech Ltd. The objective was to enable women entrepreneurs registered with the NWEC to have the required tools to enhance their business acumen and to keep up to date with the ever changing business environment.
