GIS - 06 August, 2018: A presentation of certificates ceremony aimed at rewarding some 100 young people after their successful completion of Volunteer Mauritius’ (VM) training programme was held on Friday 3 August 2018 at the Belle Rose State Secondary School in Ebène.  The training programme, in its second edition this year, has been designed by the Volunteer Mauritius (VM) Academy.
In her address at the ceremony, the patron of the VM training programme, Mrs Kobita Jugnauth, highlighted that the key role of the VM is to promote a volunteering culture among the youth of the country by giving them opportunities to engage in activities at regional and national level.
Volunteering activities, Mrs Jugnauth underlined, will also help the youth to better face pressing societal issues and in turn contribute towards a unified nation building.  On this score, she appealed to the youth to dedicate themselves in promoting cleanliness across the country and to collectively sensitise the population on its importance as well as in the combat against the drug scourge.
Moreover, she commended the commitment of the Police Force and the Fire Rescue Services for the experience and know-how imparted to the participants.  The experience shared is key in supporting the development of necessary skills and attitude to maintain law and order in the country, she stated.
